The Pilates Method was developed by Joseph Pilates many decades ago.He devised the system to heal all ailments of the human body, from anatomical injuries to disease and illness. The Classical Pilates Method focuses heavily on anatomy, anatomy of movement, breathing, and form. While many think Pilates is about simply strengthening the core, it is truly about the spinal cord, and how we strengthen and support it.The method is ideal for any mobility level, age, and fitness level. At Spring Pilates Wilmington, instruction on the Mat is typically done in a group environment (Mat Classes), and Apparatus (equipment) classes are offered as Private Sessions, Semi-Private Sessions,(2-3 people), and Group Classes (4 people). We recommend at least one private session to learn the ABC's and 1-2-3's before joining a group class.
